Happy Mama's Day!

Happy Mama's Day everyone!  And no OT today!  Woo hoo!  Yesterday I went to www.rustran.com and made sure I asked Y if he knew today is Mother's Day.  He said, yes, they had discussed it at school on Friday.  He asked me what I was going to do.  I told him we were going to church first and then we would come home and Y and Papa would clean the house while Mama took a nap.  He laughed and said, "No!"  Then he asked what did I mean by clean the house?  I told him they would have to clean the toilets and scoop out the cat litter boxes.  "Oh, no!  Mama, that is your job!"

13 Years in Our Home, Forever in Our Hearts

Nala Bear
03/24/1996 - 05/07/2009

Rest in peace, dear Nala Bear. There is no pain at the Rainbow Bridge. Only warm sunny days filled with running, jumping, playing fetch, swimming and napping. And all the toys there are yours. No one else can play with them but you. Ginger and Odie have been waiting for you for three years. Odie is ecstatic to see you, I'm sure; Ginger, I don't know about. Hopefully three and a half years at the Rainbow Bridge has mellowed her out and she's not such a "B" anymore.

You came into our home and into our hearts exactly thirteen years and two days ago. Just a little black bundle of fur, no bigger than Daddy's shoe. When we took you to the veterinarian for the first time, all she could say was, "You're gonna be huge!" She didn't know the biggest thing about you was your heart. You may have been a big scary looking Rottweiler/Doberman/Chow mix, but you were the sweetest, gentlest and smartest dog in the world. I am honored to have been owned by you.

We wish we could have kept your pain at bay for many more years, but that was not to be. We just could not bear to see you suffer for one minute longer. I knew the end was near when I had to carry you home from your walk on Wednesday. Your poor hips and knees just could not take the pain of one more step.

The house is so quiet now without your panting and woofing to keep the other dogs in line.  Miko, Squirt, Goofy, and even Tigger and Daisy miss you, too.  Who is going to referee the wrestling matches between Goofy and Miko or Goofy and Squirt anymore?  How will we know when one of them is stepping out of line?

All of the balls sit motionless on the grass, frisbees fallen to the ground, and the ropes wait patiently to be moved to their knew resting spot across the house or across the yard.  Even the toys seem lonely - you never let the other dogs play with them.  I guess this is the biggest question of all:

Who gets to play with the toys?

Miko, Squirt and Goofy patiently await your response.

Loved forever,
Daddy, Mommy, Yarek
Miko, Squirt, Goofy, Tigger and Daisy

Opinions Are Like Sphincters

Opinions are like sphincters - everyone has one.

I have been reading several blogs lately where a rash of highly negative comments have been left for newly adoptive parents and those going through the process right now. Maybe my latest commenter is the culprit?

You seem very vulgar and opinionated of your new son. You language isn't appropriate at all. You must be a very angry and bitter woman and I feel sorry for Y. Really sorry.

Honey, if you're offended by the word pissy, I really feel sorry for you. My husband has offered to expand your knowledge of truly vulgar words. If you continue to leave negative comments, I will forward your information to him, so that he can enlighten you.

My First Mother's Day

These dweebies at work want to assign me OVERTIME on my very first MOTHER'S DAY!!!

Have these people no compassion? Not that my bank account couldn't use the extra cash, but please! At least I would have an excuse not to take Y to ping pong that day. Boy did he get pissy when I told him last week that he couldn't go to ping pong on Mother's Day.

"Why?" "Because it's Mother's Day." "Why?" "Because I am the Mama and I get to do what I want to do on Mother's Day." "Why can't we come to ping pong?" "Because Mama does not want to play ping pong on Mother's Day." "But, I want to play!!!" (and apparently that's all that matters!)

If I am forced to work OT, then maybe Bill will take him to ping pong. I highly doubt Bill will have the patience to stay with him for four hours while he plays. Yes, they play for upwards of four hours every Sunday. And, of course, Y gets very annoyed when you tell him it's time to go home. Even if the others are clearing up the tables and balls all around him. It's never time to go home in Y's opinion. And, for those of you who are thinking it, no we are not getting him a ping pong table for the house. Then he would just get pissy because neither one of us wants to play ping pong with him, and it's kind of hard to play by yourself. Tigger and Daisy would love a ping pong table, I'm sure. It would provide a lovely place to take a nap; and it would also provide lots of entertainment when those balls start hopping over that net. Just check YouTube and you'll see what I mean.

Looking forward to a day off on Sunday.

Please help the Fumia family!

Please help this family.  They are leaving in about two weeks to adopt their son.  Sure wish we could help right now, but our own adoption has left us dry of any extra funds.

Long Time No Blog

It's been four days since my last post, and I've been asked what's up. Well, I started back to work on Monday. I have day shifts all week, which isn't too bad. Hope Y doesn't get used to it, because I work mostly Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday evenings and Friday/Saturday mornings. It seems I will be working most Sunday mornings as well doing overtime. I will try to get switched to evening shifts, but who knows. I hate missing so much church, now that I've found a wonderful Unitarian/Universalist church to attend. Y goes with me now, but only because he knows he won't get to play ping pong later that afternoon if he doesn't go to church first. Bribery works.

We're doing fine here right now. No one has swine flu or anything. There was TAKS testing (TX Assessment of Knowledge and Skills) this week in school. Y does not have enough English yet to take even the modified test, so they sent a note home with him last week saying he did not need to attend school on Tuesday or Wednesday. Needless to say, we received automated phone calls each day telling us that our son was not present for school on either of those days. Another right hand not talking to the left hand thingy, I guess. So, I had to email an "excuse" to someone at the school. I forwarded the message they sent about Y not attending, and then asked why I needed to send an excuse if they asked that he not attend. Ridiculous redundancy, I think.

Work is going splendidly, I'm still assigned to the training office because I've been gone so long (84 days to be exact). They had to re-educate me on the new airspace changes that took effect last March, then I had to get all the face-to-face briefings that I would've received for the last three months, then I had to do all my computer based instruction that I had missed. That took almost three days. Now I am waiting for the Air Traffic Manager to decide if I need additional training hours on each position or if the supervisor can just give me what they call an 'over the shoulder' (where the supe watches me for about 30 minutes or so and then certifies that I am okay to work under general supervision again). I sure hope they don't impose more training hours. That would really (insert profanity here). I've been doing this job for almost 18 and a half years, ten and a half at this exact location. I think I can remember what needs to be done. Heck, I was training someone else to do the job the week before I left!

Gotta go see what they want me to do now.

OMG - There's Sponge Bob Russian Rap on YouTube!

Okay, we were looking for Russian Rap songs for Y to listen to. We settled on YouTube because they seem to have quite a few. Imagine my surprise when we came across this one. And it's not even the only one. There are several.

Sponge Bob Russian Raps

Enjoy,
