Still another mostly uneventful day. We had Yarek's goodbye party today even though I won't be able to spring him from the internat until Friday or Monday. I sure hope it's Friday. I am so ready to go home it's not funny. Speaking of Friday(s), thanks C and JB for the info on where Friday's and Papa John's are in Kiev!
The funny thing about Yarek's party, was he was ready to have it all to himself! I brought four big bags of chips, six or eight small bags of candy and three 2 liters of soda and set them out on the table in the common area between the bedrooms. He brought two chairs and kept trying to get me to sit in the less rickety of the two. It wasn't until I said, "Don't you have any friends?" that he got the idea and went and invited a bunch of other kids to come. I made sure to tell him to save some for T and K, but he opted to jump up and go out and find them right away. Good news for K, her ankle is doing much better, no more cast and no more crutches!
Thirty minutes later the chips sat unopened, one bottle of soda had been drunk and every bag of candy had been opened and half of them were empty. The kids decided to save the rest for the evening after dinner. Then they changed their minds and kept eating it!
I brought two soccer balls, which were discussed profusely by the boys who also examined every inch of them. How much did they cost, they wanted to know. None of your beeswax! (Unfortunately I can't translate that yet.) Apparently they passed inspection, but no one wanted to take them out of the plastic bags they were in. They wanted to keep them pristine as long as possible, I guess.
The 3 in 1 game was an immediate hit. It only took a few seconds to decide they wanted to play checkers, then chess. At least six boys crowded around the little board; two of them played against each other while the other four gave hints and tips to whomever they wanted to win.
J and D, I don't know if I will be able to see T again, or not. If I do, do you want me to leave your phone number with her in case she can call you from someone else's cell phone? Try sending me a text message, it's the quickest way to get me info. If you can't do it from your phone, maybe ask S or T if they can send it from their phone. S replies to most of my texts, so I know she knows how to do it.
We still haven't gotten Yarek's dad's info. I don't know who has it, but I will make sure to ask before I pick him up for the last time. My new facilitator is Ser. He will be here tomorrow morning around 9am. He called me just a few minutes ago to tell me that he had spoken to someone at the court, and she said whoever needs to do our paperwork won't be available until 11am. He wants to go there as soon as they open anyway, and be a thorn in their sides until they give us the decree. Who knows, maybe we'll get it at 10am instead of 11am? Then the drive to Donetsk begins! Maybe after lunch, though. Boy, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. Another hot meal!
When I left the internat today, I told Yarek that I may not be by tomorrow to see him. He seems very fine with that; especially when I told him that I would be doing paperwork tomorrow. He wanted to know if I would be signing him out tomorrow, I told him no, but soon. At least he didn't ask about the Ukrainian cell phone today. He's still very concerned about new tennis shoes, though.
Gotta go lurk in blogland now.

I must have missed about K breaking her ankle!!
We knew that today may have been the last call. Don't worry about it. Don't give T our phone number. She may call at 3am like K did when her phone worked:0 LOL We mailed off our I-600a today!!!
The street that C and JB were talking about is Kreschatyk. It's the big main street they close off on weekends. Walk in front of McDonald's heading toward the PO. Then turn right beside the PO. It's a good ways up the street, then off to the left. There may be a map in your Bradt guide. There's a big clothing store called 'Zoom' (Russian spelling) At first I thought it was something like Gym. lol It has 5 or more stories. That's where we bought K's Ukrainian skirt and E & M got some clothes there too.
There's a Papa John's in the mall food court if you're hungry for pizza.
Y will probably like the Funicular. It's behind St. Andrews. Walk toward St. Andrews (opposite St. Sophia's church) keeping to the left of the the church. There's a park back there that overlooks the Dnipro. It eventually leads to the Soccer stadium if you follow the railing to the right as you're facing the river.
I guess you can tell we had lots of time to kill in Kiev! LOL
Hope things go quickly!
BTW - D,K and M came home tonight:) She's sooooo tiny.
